Music department.

This department offers a thorough .-nurse in vocal tad instru
mental music, theory, and musical history. Tin- teachers, having
had advantages of the trest conservatory training, are eniin.Mll>
qualified for their respective positions. The methods employed are
those used by the best instructors of American and Kurnpcui 000
servatories. We invite attention to the graded l KNU Ml of study giwn
below. The time required to complete a course in any branch at
music will be determined by the pupil's previous attainments, and bj
her rate of BtOfjNM as dependent on talent and industry.

I. THEORY.

Under theory is included notation, thorough-bass, harmony, dothle
chants, chorals, fugue, ccunterpoint, and acoustics. Theory is kept
in advance of execution that each step may be intelligently taken.
